Steward Green helps clients restore, manage and protect natural environments through practical, science-based solutions. From habitat regeneration to land stewardship, our team brings the expertise to take projects from planning and design through implementation and long-term care. The result is healthier habitats, greater biodiversity and more resilient landscapes that provide lasting value for people, wildlife and the environment.

Bioretention Solutions

Bioretention systems are vegetated stormwater management facilities that are used to remove a wide range of pollutants from land development sites; these pollutants include suspended solids, nutrients, metals, hydrocarbons and bacteria. Stormwater runoff entering the system is filtered through the soil bed before discharging downstream through an underdrain or infiltrating into the subsoil. Vegetation in the soil bed provides uptake of pollutants and runoff, and the root system helps maintain the infiltration rate in the soil bed.
